Data recording is now available in Slicer

Andras Lasso-2

Hi all,

Real-time (and on-request snapshot) data recording and replay is now available in Slicer. A short demo video is available here:

https://youtu.be/hxYwJKgXXks

3D Slicer's Sequences extension has been available for a while, for reviewing sequences of data, such as 4D CT, 2D+t or 4D ultrasound, position tracking, longitudinal studies, etc – but it was not easy to create and edit these data sets.

Sequences extension is now enhanced with recording and editing capabilities: any node changes can be recorded in real-time, by requesting snapshots, or assigning additional data to existing sequences. Changes of all relevant data types can be recorded: transforms, models, markups, images, segmentations, etc (and sequencers can be registered for any custom nodes).

Applications include recording and replay of tracked ultrasound data, segmentation of 4D data sets, performing motion compensation on 4D data sets or longitudinal studies, creating custom animations with moving around objects and camera.

Sequences extension is available in the extension manager for nightly Slicer builds.

Sample 4D cardiac CT data set:

https://subversion.assembla.com/svn/slicerrt/trunk/MultidimData/data/SampleSceneCardiacCt.mrb

Extension documentation:

https://www.slicer.org/slicerWiki/index.php/Documentation/Nightly/Extensions/Sequences

Thanks to Matthew Holden and others in the PerkLab (Queen’s University) for their contributions.

Andras
