Unsuccessful downloading and running Slicer 4. The run file launch on windows10 (explorer ver. Microsoft Edge). Screen freezes. No slicer4 executable file found; only downloaded run file.

Greetings slicer users,

Problem #1.001 Unable to successfully launch (run) slicer on windows 10, explorer (version Microsoft edge). Appears downloading run file is successful.

 

Steps I completed 11/28/15:

 

1.      Downloaded run file at http://download.slicer.org/

a.      scrolled to Installers

                                                     i.     Clicked on rectangular button for Windows, Stable Release, v 4.5.0-1, revision

24735, built 2015-11-12

                                                   ii.     http://download.slicer.org/bitstream/461637

2.      watched slicer-4.5-1-win-amd64.exe download from slicer.kitware.com

3.      download successful

4.      clicked [Run] from Explorer’s prompt

5.      After few seconds hear Sound “butta ding” and only this explorer screen freezes

6.      Slicer4 executable file not found.

7.      Must shut down computer to have access to browser Explorer.

 

Using Windows10, explorer browser (Microsoft edge)

Need help.

@UserList: Does any other user experience issue starting Slicer 4.5 using Windows 10 ?

@DrSchelb: Does Slicer start with you do "right click" then "Run as Administrator" ?
