hello sir
i am new in 3d slicer.in slicer when we use editor module and make a model and this model save in .stl format and it size 457.6miband dicom file size 514.5kib. my question is how to compress .stl file . and this model size is correct or not

Hi Divya - 

Slicer exports the ascii version of stl, so the file size can be very large.  

The best way to make the file smaller is remove unneeded detail from the model.  For example, removing holes from the inside of an object can help a lot.  Also you can try downsampling the data before editing (for example, by picking a larger pixel spacing in the Resample Scalar Volume module).

As of end of June 2012, in Slicer trunk/nighlties (not in 4.1.1), it is possible to save STL files as uncompressed (ASCII) or compressed. In the Save Data dialog, toggle "Show options" then uncheck/check "Compress" checkbox. 
This option is working for most files types.
