prbms with 3DSlicer crashing

Hoppe, Anna L
Hi Slicer Users

I have a question regarding 3D Slicer that I was hoping you could shed some light on. I have used Slicer3.6 and Slicer4 on linux machines (64 bit, 8 GB RAM) and both versions seem to run very slowly and crash regularly. For example, using the slider bars to raster through volumetric datasets in the red/green/yellow viewers is slow. Additionally, changing the Slicer GUI layout from conventional to "red slice only" has caused Slicer to crash. I was just wondering if anyone had an idea why Slicer runs slowly on my machine & what I can do to fix the problem. ( I attended the Slicer Workshop held at the University of Iowa  & I was impressed by the speed at which Slicer was running. This experience made me question why I am encountering so many problems with using Slicer.)

Thank you,
Anna

Hi Anna,

Are you sure you have the hardware accelerated drivers for your graphics card running on your Linux machine?
